Meet my friend, Stephen.
Stephen’s quite handsome. British. Witty. Drinks like a fish. Runs like an animal, and I mean that in the most complementary way. As in, he is one of those terrible, graceful runners that makes running look like an art. He’s also a Type 1 diabetic, which means that he was born without the ability to regulate blood sugar.
I had the privilege of running my first 50 mile race with this gentleman last year. He has gone on to run a second 50, and recently killed at the Leadville 100, the hellish uphill ultramarathon immortalized by MacDougal’s Born to Run. The sheer joy that he finds in challenging his body’s limits continually inspires me.
Read more about his running adventures and check out his Leadville Race Report at his blog, RunDiabetes.
Lady Bridgerunners are hitting up the Nike Women’s Marathon
A party of three has more than doubled in size. This year, our Lady Bridge team has become a family of seven with serious plans to kill that one mile, nearly 300 ft elevation gain with smiles on our faces.
Training is well underway, so stay tuned for more @ladyBRxSF adventures.
$5 bet that we convince one of our crew to live-blog from the course. @shutupandrun?
